The Works of Charlie Spear
Charlie’s work habit is working from a blueprint (initial drawing) for the “stick-part” of the building (painting).  There is no pleasure
derived from finishing down to the baseboard trim or type of furniture.  He does his best work when he is working fast and pushing
hard at the subject idea that he has at the time.  He loves both texture and pattern, held together with a strong influence of “line” in
his work.  The “line” is the stick-part of his architecture.  He must have it.  Next he works at the pattern and texture that hang on
the stick framing.

Charlie says that most of his work is about self discovery and some of what he has discovered is that he loves humor and has an
optimistic outlook based on that humor.  He has also discovered that he cannot do what someone else wants him to do.  “I can
only build my own buildings (artwork)”, says Charlie.

Charlie’s subject has a- little to do with his art, like the 2x4’s have only a- little to do with the final shape of the building.  If you like
what he creates, then you probably will like the part he has discovered about himself too.
